What can I do to establish and build Business Credit?
Building business credit will take some time. Especially if you are a relatively new trucking business (less than 18 months old). A good foundation starts with:
- Registering your business or dba.
- Apply for a DUNS number.
- Open a business credit card (Home Depot, Lowe’s, fuel card).
- Avoid negative balances in business checking account.
- Use a reputable factoring company.
- Pay business bills on time (if you anticipate going late-call your vender and ask for payment arrangements whenever possible).
- Make sure you monitor your business credit regularly.
